Foundation Carbine (live fire range)

The Foundation Carbine course offers a unique entry-level experience, catering to both novice and skilled shooters. Our aim was to create a course that benefits newcomers while adding value to those with established skills. These sessions introduce foundational skills for practical shooting disciplines, such as rapid marksmanship, presentation, grip, gear selection, reloads, target transitions, and movement. It’s a departure from traditional notions of “fundamentals.” Through functional thinking drills, we foster instinctive training habits that lead to efficient and consistent performance. The intention behind this course is to teach you techniques and drills that will keep you busy with homework for months.

• Foundations of Gun Handling: Presentation, grip, sling use, and reloads.
• Shooting Platform: Discover the importance of a stable shooting platform for consistent accuracy.
• Foundations of Speed and Accuracy: Develop the understanding and skills needed to shoot fast and accurate.
• Transitions: Explore the Foundations of transitioning from one target to another. 
• Movement: Movement is a key element in competition for multiple target engagements and is a most critical element in a defensive shooting situation. 

• Firearm Equipment: Modern semi- automatic carbine in good working order. The AR-15 platform is the most widely used and comes in different variants, the AK platform is also allowed. Bring an appropriate belt, magazine carrier, at least 3 magazines (or more to keep the reloading time at a minimum), and appropriate ammunition for your firearm. A pistol is not required for this class.  
• Quality sling is required: 2 points slings are recommended.
• Safety Gear: Ensure you have quality eye and ear protection. Electronic hearing protection is recommended and makes hearing instructions and commands easier.
• 300 rounds minimum we recommend 500 (the more you have the more you can rep)
• Hydrate the day before. Bring plenty of water, lunch, and snacks. We will take a short breaks for jamming mags, eating and hydrating.
• This is an 8 hour course.

There is no prerequisite for this course. Join our Foundation Pistol Course and elevate your shooting abilities to a level where they become second nature. Enhance your performance through functional thinking drills and expert guidance.

Please dress appropriately for the training environment:

• Weather-Appropriate Clothing: Prepare for any weather conditions, rain or shine. We provide covered areas and tables. In case of rain
• No sandals, open-toed shoes, or high heels.
• Avoid tank tops, spaghetti strap shirts, v-neck or low-cut shirts (Hot brass casing find their way into the darnedest places).
• Clothing should not be excessively loose or include jewelry that interferes with safety.
• Leggings are only permitted if they have belt loops and are designed for carrying.

Safety is our top priority, and we will be in close proximity while shooting. Be prepared to handle hot brass safely and responsibly throughout the training.
