Movement Efficiency

Overview

The Movement Efficiency Course is designed to develop safe, deliberate, and performance-driven movement with a handgun. This course focuses on building efficient footwork, intelligent visual processing, and disciplined gun handling while navigating dynamic environments.

Students will learn how to move with purpose—not just move fast—and how to apply structure and control under increasing complexity.

Course Focus Areas

1. Using Visual Reference for Movement

  • Target-focused vs. environment-focused vision
  • Visual anchors for efficient foot placement
  • Reading terrain and angles
  • Maintaining threat awareness while navigating obstacles
  • Visual discipline during acceleration and deceleration

2. Moving While Shooting

  • Maintaining balance and upper-body stability
  • Managing recoil during lateral and angular movement
  • Understanding acceptable sight picture during motion
  • Throttle control: when to slow down vs. when to press
  • Efficiency vs. speed tradeoffs

3. Moving, Then Shooting

  • Controlled deceleration into stable shooting positions
  • Efficient footwork into natural shooting platforms
  • Entry timing and shot confirmation
  • Avoiding “dead time” between movement and engagement

4. Entries and Exits

  • Entering positions with stability and intent
  • Exiting positions efficiently without overexposure
  • Directional footwork principles
  • Minimizing unnecessary steps
  • Maintaining visual and muzzle discipline during transitions

5. Vision Barriers

  • Working around visual obstructions
  • Managing limited sight lines
  • Using cover and concealment efficiently
  • Processing partial visual information
  • Maintaining awareness while navigating blind angles

6. Moving and Shooting Through Ports

  • Port approach mechanics
  • Efficient setup and breakdown
  • Minimizing wasted movement
  • Stabilizing the upper body in constrained spaces
  • Transitioning between ports without losing visual control

Who This Course Is For

  • Intermediate to advanced shooters
  • Competitive shooters seeking improved stage efficiency
  • Defensive shooters wanting practical movement skills
  • Law enforcement and security professionals

What Students Will Gain

  • Cleaner footwork
  • Improved visual processing under stress
  • Better balance and recoil control during movement
  • Reduced wasted motion
  • Increased performance efficiency

This is not a “run fast and hope” course. It is a structured, performance-based program designed to build repeatable, measurable efficiency.
