Performance Pistol (live fire range)

EFFICIENCY AND MECHANICS = SPEED

The Performance Pistol course focuses on enhancing shooters’ speed and accuracy through efficiency in mechanics. We begin by establishing a strong foundation in fundamentals and progressively enhance performance throughout the day.


Course Outline

  • Foundations of Gun Handling: Draw, grip, presentation, weapon status, and reloads.
  • Shooting Platform: Discover the importance of a stable shooting platform for consistent accuracy.
  • Efficiency: Streamlining all aspects with elimination of unneeded movements.
  • Recoil: Understanding recoil and the most common reasons why.
  • Strong Side/Support Side: Hand transfer and effective one hand shooting.
  • Malfunctions: Common pistol malfunctions and clearing.
  • Foundations of Speed and Accuracy: Develop the understanding and skills needed to shoot fast and accurate.
  • Vision: What do you need to see, what are you focusing on?
  • Transitions: Engagement speed development through the transition. 
  • Movement: Setting up for success in efficient movement.
  • Shooting Position: Various shooting positions you may encounter.

Equipment Requirements

  • Firearm Equipment: Modern semi- automatic pistol in good working order. Bring an appropriate belt, holster, gun, magazine carrier, at least 3 magazines (or more to keep the reloading time at a minimum), and appropriate ammunition for your firearm.  
  • Quality Holster that fully covers and prevents access to the trigger guard: Kydex inside the waistband (IWB) or Kydex outside of the waistband (OWB) are recommended. Note that ankle, shoulder, belly band, fanny pack, cross draw, or Serpa holsters (unless issued by an agency/department for plainclothes carry) are not permitted for this class. Duty belt, battle belt and concealed carry setups are all ok.
  • Safety Gear: Ensure you have quality eye and ear protection. Electronic hearing protection is recommended and makes hearing instructions and commands easier.
  • 300 rounds minimum we recommend 500 (the more you have the more you can rep)
  • Hydrate the day before. Bring plenty of water, lunch, and snacks. We will take a short breaks for jamming mags, eating and hydrating.
  • This is an 8 hour course.


Prerequisite for this course is our Foundation Pistol course or the equivalent from a reputable instructor. This is not an entry level course and you should have a firm grasp of firearms handling skill, safety, and weapons proficiency. You will be moving around in this course it is not all on a static line. Join our Performance Pistol Course and elevate your shooting abilities to a level where they become second nature. Enhance your performance through functional thinking drills and expert guidance.

Dress Code:

Please dress appropriately for the training environment:


  • Weather-Appropriate Clothing: Prepare for any weather conditions, rain or shine. We provide covered areas and tables. In case of rain
  • No sandals, open-toed shoes, or high heels.
  • Avoid tank tops, spaghetti strap shirts, v-neck or low-cut shirts (Hot brass casing find their way into the darnedest places).
  • Clothing should not be excessively loose or include jewelry that interferes with safety.
  • Leggings are only permitted if they have belt loops and are designed for carrying.


Safety is our top priority, and we will be in close proximity while shooting. Be prepared to handle hot brass safely and responsibly throughout the training.
